5 Reasons why Candidates Fail to Clear CA Exam
To become a Chartered Accountant (CA), candidates need to clear all three levels of the challenging CA examinations. It is important to understand that CA exams are not tough to crack. With regular practice and utmost dedication, a student can easily crack the CA exams.
However, it is also common to see sad faces of students after the results are declared. Despite putting in the best of their efforts, students fail to clear the examination. What do they lack while preparing for the exam? What goes wrong during the exam?
In this blog, we will talk about 5 reasons why candidates fail to clear the CA exam:
1. Lack of consistency:
This is the prime source of failure in the CA exams. Students lack consistency while preparing for the exam and generally engage themselves in other activities (Marriages, birthdays, parties, family get together, social media, etc). As a result, they are not able to devote the much needed time for studies. Proper time management is of utmost importance for the CA exam preparation. No one can stop you from clearing the exam in the first attempt if you utilize your time properly.
2. Referring to wrong books and ignoring ICAI study material, MTPs, and RTPs:
Study material serves as holy scripture for CA aspirants. Students fail to choose the right study material and often end up in chaos. It is strongly recommended to refer to the study material provided by your mentors. Ignoring ICAI study material, MTPs, RTPs, and past year question papers also contribute to the failure in the examination.
3. Not enough practice:
Rough work is how a CA student defines his practice. Students don’t practice solving the questions during the exam preparation and they generally solve practical problems in the textbook by ticking the posts. They forget that they need to write the answers. This habit should be avoided at all times. You should always practice, as if you are giving the final examination.
4. No proper time allocation for revision:
Not revising what you have studied is like inviting unnecessary trouble. Students who don’t crack the CA examinations in the first attempt, somewhere fail to give importance to a good revision plan. There is nothing in this world that can substitute a good revision plan. To succeed, revision is must.
5. Less focus on presentation:
In the CA exams, presentation matters a lot. With the introduction of the subjective paper pattern, students need to focus on the presentation. Despite knowing the importance of presentation in the exams, students usually take it very lightly and eventually end up in poor execution of the paper. So, it is strongly recommended to attempt the exam with an excellent presentation.
